CURACAO W.I.P 6

New exhibition called "Curaçao 2004":
Drawings of our daily life on streets on our island.
Drawing 4

Size: 40 X 25 cm
Pen & ink in combination with Caran D'ache color pencils

Soft pastels from Talens

Paper: Schoellershammer 200R

  Day 1

After finding my documentation I setup my first pencil lines.
With pen and ink I make the final guidelines in the drawing.
The first start and in my eyes the most important one.
This makes the drawing and will determine the look of the final piece.
If this isn't the right composition I start over.

  Day 2

With soft water color pencil I make the first fields.
The colors are very bright and colorful.
The people place everything above them to get the fish
away from the sun.
I will make later details, its now a matter to get the first colors
well placed on paper.

  Day 3

Today I did not so much on this drawing.
Worked most time on one of my sculptures.
I placed the first person in the background.
He is the tradesman of is boat, direct from Venezuela and
Spanish speaking.
Our second language on our island Curaçao.

  Day 4

It's today fish day.
I placed the table with the fish and everything around that
it on paper.
Everything is so far in color pencil.
Sad enough I can't add the smell of the fish.
Maybe a next experimental drawing!!

  Day 5

Ok, today the boat was the main object.
His color, shades and rust all around it.
In a later stage, I will make more details.
For now its important to get the complete setup and composition.

  Day 6

The people coming true life.
After long waiting they can buy the fish.
I finished the two gentleman, the lady I will finish tomorrow.
All done in color pencil.

  Day 7

Finished!
I draw the woman and placed the details with pen and ink.
Did also a touchup from some small parts in the drawing
so the eyes will see and pickup the attention.
